Finding A Scholarship Or College Grant
Fortunately, aid opportunities have also multiplied in recent years. Scholarships and grants were once thought of as only available for the poor or the brightest students. That is no longer true. These days, almost everyone is eligible for some type of award.
Free money for college can be divided into two basic categories: scholarships (usually merit based) and grants (usually need based). Of course, many other conditions apply to various awards. Minority status, gender, career plans, and field of study are the most common qualifiers for today’s financial aid awards. Almost everyone can use one of these categories to focus their search for aid.
One of the best sources for college grants is the federal government. Be sure to submit The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. This will tell you if you are eligible for a Pell grant, and colleges will use this information to determine if you qualify for a school-sponsored grant. Private grant foundations may also require the FAFSA be completed before considering you for an award.
Ideally, a student would start looking for scholarships during the junior year of high school. This may seem early, but some awards require an application be submitted the year before you begin your first semester in college. Furthermore, collecting the names and contact information of prospective awards can take months. You must also factor in time for completing lengthy application forms, writing essays, and scheduling interviews.
In your search for scholarships, focus on three main sources. First, search your local community. Start with the high school councilor’s office, your local library, churches, community organizations, and any corporation that is based nearby. Next, contact the financial aid office of each college you are considering. They can tell you about all school-based awards that may not appear in the standard listings. Finally, use the Internet. The standard search engine is of some use, but dedicated scholarship search sites are a tremendous resource. Some of these data banks have up to 800,000 awards indexed. Best of all, you can search based on a personal profile that will match scholarships to your unique situation.
Of course, this article can only get you started in the right direction. College funding is a complicated process and it is easy to feel overwhelmed. Remember that almost half of all college students receive some type of aid, so the chances of success are good. With a dedicated and organized search plan, you can get your share too.

Wealth Creation Secrets
It's about having an ideal lifestyle - being able to have control over your time and schedule, having no one ordering you around, not having to look at the price tags every time you go out shopping, and just enjoying the freedom that you truly deserve.
But why do many people fail to achieve financial freedom? Through experience, I have observed that they have limited belief.
That's the problem with most people. They have set up a boundary in their minds. This barrier stops any possibility of surpassing the current limits of their belief.
For example, many people would think that their boring day job is all that they're good enough for. They do not like to think outside the box. They do not grab opportunities that are theirs for the taking. Fears and doubts have been causing them to miss these golden chances of a lifetime.
There are plenty of opportunities out there. They may enroll in night classes, do some research on how to make more money, or start an internet business.
When I was just starting my online endeavors, all my friends and relatives (with the exception of my internet marketing friends, of course) would discourage me in entering this venture. They would repeatedly inform me that I'm wasting my time and nothing good would come out of it.
Had I listened to them, I would not have achieved online success. If they have succeeded in implanting their own restricted beliefs into my mind, I never would have tasted the joy of being an infopreneur.
No offense to them. I respect their decisions. Everyone has the right to voice out their opinions, but no one has the right to force others in accepting their belief. Thank goodness my internet marketing pals have encouraged and supported me all the way.
Believe that you have the capacity and power to attain moneymaking success, and you're halfway there.
Plan everything. Make a list of things that would allow you to save money. Cut back on using your credit card, pay your bills on time, make wise investment decisions, and try your best to start in some sort of business (no matter how small).
More importantly, action should be taken. It's not enough to just believe. You have to make a move. Does making mistakes frighten you? Don't be. The more mistakes you make, the closer you will get to success.
Sacrifice. Instead of watching TV or going shopping, invest more time on those activities that would propel you in reaching your financial goals.
Many people would repeatedly complain that they're sick and tired of their lives, but do they really deserve a better life? The harder you work, the more chances that success will hit you.
Never, ever give up. Quitting is not an option. You must keep on pounding and pounding until you have achieved your mission.
Money may not be everything, but living your life the way you want it to be is.

How Millionaires Get to Be Millionaires
Before you can manage a large amount of money learn to handle the coins in your hand. Lisa Van Duesen, a Vietnamese now a mini mogul at US was once sunk in debt and penniless. She sold her house and mortgages an amount of $ 200,000, paid her debt and move to settle in the green pasture of US. They sacrifice from eating lavish foods and satiated in rice and soy sauce as their everyday meal. She worked hard as a real estate broker after college and invested her money to real estate properties that soon earned her 40% equity. Learning fro her work, she buys and sells using the bank's money wisely placing them according to her needs. She purchase whatever that has value and can be sold with interest and plan it financially. She recovered from having sky-high debts to rising assets using only what she has into a profitable cause.
Follow your parent’s advice, earn a degree.
Education is a key factor in understanding how money talks and that are by having one potential, being knowledgeable. Invest in your mind. Acquiring a degree is gearing yourself with skill that can be used and valuable in the market. Arturo Gonzalez, son of the Mexican railroad worker dreamt of making it on top. He has promised himself of two possibilities in his life, Harvard or Bust. Later on he was accepted and pulled himself with ambition to Harvard Law School. He then land a job in San Francisco based law firm and has an income about $ 740,000 in 2003, according to the American Lawyer Magazine. This undeniable manifest how education could earn you a living.
Positive attitude towards life spiced with perseverance.
Behavior towards work and the optimism that boost up your moral after you tried hart. Starting a small business is already hard enough, to most of people especially when the resources is scarce and debts is high, study shows 20% are struggling small enterprise, according to SBA ( Small Business Administration office of Advocacy).
Rossie Herman, 42 and a resident of Tomball, Texas had experience a lot of struggle just to get her she is now. She took all the risk even placing her in $ 75,000 debt going form one credit card to another which normally happens to about 46% of small business as of 1998, SBA says. She is a manicurist who has two daughters to raise and convicted herself to get out from debt. Often people slam their door in her face during her marketing strategy of house to house delivery." It was frustrating and tough", she admitted. Yet willingness to succeed paid off. The key there is not by quitting but pursuing.
Invest and Save.
The problem of the most entrepreneurs are recognizing only on what goes in the pocket but not knowing what goes out. Spend only what is not more than your budget and compromise from it. Save, save and play out to invest it when the economy is not shaky. One of Oprah’s best advices during her talk show is that a good financial planner must always sign their own checks. This is to monitor what is left and what needs to be saved or else you’ll end up bankrupt without even knowing it.
Time is always essential.
Multi tasking is the best way of achieving your goals in a short time, this means use your potential in dividing the task to others while focusing on what needs to be done. Most of us try to do a lot of things in a short amount of time and end up finishing nothing at all. Always get your priorities straight and focused baring in mind that investing on it will profit you in the end.

7 Power Habits to Guarantee Financial Independence
If you answered mostly yes, then you are in danger of being financially unstable. You cannot afford the things you want and sometimes, even the things you need. Don’t go sulking out there! You better move your body. If such is the case, better tell yourself that you cannot afford to be that way always. You have to be financially independent.
What is financial independence? Financial independence is the capability to determine and support yourself through your own endeavors. There are 7 ways or habits for you to follow to gain financial independence. With the right attitude and the proper goal in mind, you might just find yourself beaming with pride because of your achievement.
1. Keep a focused vision
Start with a vision. What is your vision for your life? Where are you definitely heading? You want financial independence. You want to be able to stand on your own and have a more stable and secured life, for yourself and for your family.
Keep that vision in mind. Hold on to it as you start to realize that vision. The choices and decisions you will make in the future will have to head to the direction of your goal. Return to that vision when things get doubtful or tough.
2. Invest your money wisely
Generate income. Your income will be the financial foundation of your vision. This will basically come from your job’s income, but don’t settle with that.
Aim to increase your income. Invest your time, money and effort into a beneficial enterprise. Start a business that you feel passionately about and make sure it will work. Think carefully of every detail in your enterprise and work on it. Do not settle with good enough results. Aim for excellence, quality and integrity to succeed.
3. Save up
Start a fund for your future. Allot a percentage of your present income to savings. Do this at the start of each month, before you go ahead. This will avoid the enticement to buy, buy, buy. It will also teach you how to properly budget your money for necessary expenses.
Money in the bank could also earn interest. Although it is not considerable compared to a good investment, it is still a good way to keep money for your future. Just make sure you maintain the money in your savings account. Avoid touching it unless it is really necessary.
Give value also to your coins. Every single cent matters. All of those scattered coins you have there could comprise a few dollars. Even if it is considerably small amount, it will still find some use for that.
4. Spend wisely
Don’t spend all your earnings. As they say, don’t earn to spend. Buy only things that you really need. Tighten those belts for now as you bank for a more secured future. Choose to live simply. Forget the need to show off on other people that you can afford. If you want achieve financial independence, you must hold on to your money as much as possible.
Avoid incurring debts as much as possible. Take control of your finances as much as possible. Credit cards for example could hold you locked in a desperate state. You could be getting what you want now through that credit card, but imagine yourself giving the bulk of your income for interest payments! Make ends meet in the meantime for later on in life, you will surely afford to be leisurely.
5. Keep contingency plans
You must plan ahead for events in the future. Have contingencies. Make certain that your financial assets are secured. At this phase, it is a good option to get an insurance policy. Insure your life, health and property, even your loved ones.
Protect your interests whenever you enter into any engagement. Make sure that your endeavor is legal, that you are financially capable, and that it is feasible within your means. This way, you will have optimal performance and desirable results. You could prevent harmful losses in the long run.
6. Take care of yourself
Health is wealth. The only way for you to achieve your dreams and be able to stand on your own is when you are physically and psychologically able to do so. Have regular check ups with your physician. Have a healthy diet. Exercise Regularly. Health will be your asset to achieve financial independence. Only a good physical standing would allow you to enjoy the fruits of your toils today.
7. Be Unstoppable
You must keep yourself focused to achieve the goal of being financially independent. Do not let yourself be distracted by whimsical desires. Do not spray. Do not procrastinate. Every cent and every minute counts as what you do today will have a lot to say on what you will have in the future. Take advantage of every opportunity that will come your way. Keep yourself confident.
Tell yourself, you will not be a loser in this game. You have to make it!

Are You Still Looking For A Job?
Statistics show that Home-based businesses are the hottest and fastest growing segment of the American economy. By the end of 2005 it is predicted that as many as 75% of the working population will be working from their homes.
Most people would love to have a work from home job - one where they can stay at home and work for someone else just like they do in the office.
Have you looked around the Internet at the "work from home jobs"? They are mainly for the highly specialized professions - programmers, medical and legal transcriptionists, graphic designers and for project specialists in fields such as technology research. I don't know about you but my expertise in these fields is almost zero and I am sure that is true for the majority of the population of planet earth.
To my mind these highly specialized jobs not only appeals to a very tiny segment of the home-job-seeking population, they also do not offer much flexibility. You don't get to pick your clients, your co-workers, or your hours on the job. In effect you become a telecommuter with a supervisor who wants to dictate your every move just to make sure you are really working. What is worse is that telecommuters are still subject to the company's employment policies and procedures and are definitely not in control of their working environment.
Most people who want a home-based business are not willing to exercise the discipline it would take to start earning the thousands of dollars the gurus and top Home Business marketers claim can be made so easily. They are content with making just enough to pay the bills and have a stress-free work environment.
The pros of a successful Home-based Business far outweigh the cons. A Home Business can be anything you want it to be – A messenger service, a hairdressing salon, affiliate marketing, an Internet franchise, a bookstore, etc. The world is your oyster, and if your business is an online one, you can create the business you really want. Just think, you could be leaping out of bed each morning excited and ready to begin work instead of prying yourself out of bed dreading the thought of returning for even one more day to a job you hate and a boss you despise.
The corporate world has become increasingly unpredictable . I have relatives and friends who have changed jobs numerous times in the last 5-7 years. You would think these are entry level earners but most of them have MA's, PHD's and advanced university degrees. Twenty years ago, one could bank on having just 2-3 jobs in their lifetime, the average is now between 8-16.
The corporate world is changing rapidly. Companies are downsizing or relocating to countries that have cheaper labor costs. This trend is set to continue. Even if you possess those rare skills I mentioned earlier, you still won't be in full control of your job situation until you have your own home business.
With your own home business you are in the driver's seat; you are the boss! You set the goals and you decide the fate of your company. You will never get laid off because the company you work for is relocating or downsizing.
The best part is, that when you own your own home business, you get to have leisure time and vacations whenever you want. You call the shots because you are in control of your destiny! And, even though you may have heard it many times before, owning your own business is, without a doubt, your surest pathway to accumulating true wealth.
Still looking for a JOB? Whether it is an office job or you are telecommuting - it is still a "JOB". Someone else is still putting a cap on what your lifetime earnings would be worth. It’s time to lift the ceiling. Start thinking seriously about setting up and growing your own home business. You will find a satisfaction deep inside that you never knew your work could provide, and the Monday Morning Blues will be a thing of the past.

3 Alternatives For Investing For Your Child’s Higher Education Costs
529 College Savings Plan: - A 529 college savings plan is a fairly new investment option for college saving. It allows just about anyone to save for college. There is a long list of benefits of a 529 college savings plan, but perhaps the most important is that your earnings grow tax free if you use it for qualified education expenses. Additionally, the maximum amount you can contribute to a 529 plan can go as high as several hundred thousand dollars depending on your State. In the event you do not use the funds for college, you can still withdrawal your earnings, but you will have to pay taxes and a 10% penalty. The penalty will be waived if your child receives a scholarship, or your child becomes disable or dies.
529 plans can typically be purchased through a broker or mutual fund company, but a disadvantage is that investment choices can sometimes be limited. Since qualifying for financial aid is based on a calculation that considers your kids assets, another big benefit of a 529 college savings plan is that the money in the plan is classified as a parents assets so less that 6% of the value counts against your kid’s financial aid eligibility.
Uniform Gifts to Minors Act/Uniform Transfers to Minors Act
(UGMA/UTA Custodial Account): - The benefit of a UMGA/UTA Custodial Account is that there is no limit on the contribution and it is easy to set up at most financial institutions. However, the limitations far outweigh the benefits. The first limitation of a UMGA/UTA Custodial Account is that these types of accounts offer very little tax advantage. If your child is under 14, only the first $800 of income is tax free, the next $800 is taxed at your child’s tax rate and after that there is no tax benefit at all. The other big limitation is that the account has to be set up in your child’s name. As a result, if your child needs financial aid all of the assets will be reviewed at a 35% rate. Therefore, this type of account is not advisable for those who may need financial aid.
Coverdell Education Savings Account (CESA): - A Coverdell Education Savings Account is very similar to a 529 college savings plan. The main difference is that with a Coverdell Education Savings Account you can only contribute $2000 per child and to qualify your adjusted gross income must be less than $110,000 if single and less than $220,000 if married filing jointly. The account is classified as a parent’s asset so less that 6% of the value counts against your kid’s financial aid eligibility.
In the end, parents should consider planning for college to be a highly important process. The above 3 alternatives can make this process much more easy and financially sound.
